Steps to install vertical blinds

The following are the “5 crucial steps to installing vertical blinds in your house”.

1. Mounting preference
Before starting the process of vertical blind installation first, you will have to decide where you want to install the blinds. You can install the vertical Blinds either inside the window framework or outside. According to your preference, you will perform the process of mounting.

Outside mount blinds
If you desire to mount the blind outside the window framework, then you should at least leave a space of about 4 to 5 inches from the window. The provision of this is area is very important because, without it, the vertical Blinds will not provide complete shade and privacy.

Inside mount blinds

If you want to mount the blind inside the window Framework, the first thing you need to do is measure window depth. For proper fitting of the mount, the window depth should be at least 2.5 to 3 inches.
After measuring the depth, you will take three measurements from inside the window
• The first measurement at the top
• The second measurement at the center point
• The third measurement at the bottom

After taking these three measurements, you will select the reading with the shortest width to perform further vertical line installation process.

Now you have two choices, either you can order custom made lines for which you need to give these measurements to the company, or you can buy readymade lines from a shop. If you want to buy the readymade blinds, then you should visit the store to measure correctly and get the appropriate length of the blinds.

There is one more thing which you need to keep in mind, especially when you are installing blinds in a large sliding window or door. The blinds should completely cover the door of the window. Otherwise, after the installation, the handle will push the blinds inside the door. It will become inconvenient and cause you hurdles while shutting the door.

2. Proper measurement
In the second step, you will measure the height and width of the window to which you want to install the vertical blinds. First, you will note the width of the window, and then you will measure the height.
Make sure that you leave a few inches from both the height and width of the framework to provide proper coverage to the window. You can estimate approximately 3 to 4 inches from both height and width. This space will help in giving adequate shade against light and privacy to the window.
Mostly vertical blinds are available readymade in stores, and you have to visit and get the appropriate size for your windows. If you do not want to buy readymade, you can also order custom made vertical Blinds.

3. Hanging brackets and installing blinds
Based on the previous mounting, draw a line on the top or inside your window frame. After drawing that line, you can mark spots with a pencil, where you want to fit the screws.
